A former Gallo-Roman castrum, a free town since 1245, and an outpost of the Bourbonnais region, Charroux overlooks the greater Limagne region. Its perfectly circular Belvédère, built in 1848, offers a superb view.
The circular Charroux lookout point is located just outside the town’s fortified walls; it features a maple tree at its center and, naturally, an orientation table, given its vantage point overlooking the entire surrounding plain.
A beautiful metal cross, typical of the Bourdonnais region, stands at the entrance to the esplanade.
The charming medieval village of Charroux, known for its mustard, boasts this magnificent observation deck.
