The Road of painted Churches of the Bourbonnais

The route of the Painted Churches of Bourbonnais includes 24 rural churches of the department of Allier, the old Bourbonnais, decorated with murals of the Middle Ages. To make known these unknown treasures, historical heritage, religious, legendary.

The Val de Sioule has an exceptional concentration of fifteen buildings particularly rich in these expressive, colorful decorations. We suggest you to discover them during your hikes.
On site, QR-codes for your smartphone, visit cards, booklets, and postcards will help you with your visit. Exhibitions, concerts, guided tours will be offered in season (more information at the Tourist Office)
